Kings Mountain offroad training
Can't seem to start a thread on the Ride Reports secton so will post here.
Dorothy, Wahl and I did a level 1 offroad training course with Stephen King today. Was at a game reserve near the Rhino park near Hekpoort. What a fantastic, but tiring day. Did wonders for confidence and off road riding skills. Anyone wanting to gain comfort on dirt - a definitive recommedation here!!
Here some pictues.
The group on arrival
Bike setup
Dorothy getting into the swing of things
Yours truly
Lots of breaks for refreshments so as not to dehydrate
Lunch
Dorothy locking up the back and front wheels in braking excercise
At about 3pm eventually went for an outride. Saw lots of game - you will notice some large herds in the background of these pics. It was awesome riding and watching herds of wildebeest and other buck running in the veld near us and at times running across our path
Stephen King and pillion
Dorothy arriving back at 'camp' after the outride
...and then it was back home after a thoroughly enjoyable day.
Saw some kitty cats on the way home
What was interesting to note is that very little of the training was done on any roads/tracks - was all in the veld on grass/sand. Total distance done for all the excercises and riding in the veld from 9pm to 3pm was only 21km!!
Then did the outride which was on a two spoor vehicle track - this was 8km - so in all only 29km for the day but a lot learned and a tremendous leap in confidence levels.

She's had the helmet for about 5 months already - has worn it a couple of times already.
