Re: Bakenkop
what shall I say . . .
Six of our members took the road with approx 50 other bikers this morning. It was an early start, with temperatures around 4°C in the valleys!
But it's always great to share our passion - this time with other bikers of Gauteng - as part of Laerskool Bakenkop's fundraiser.
This picture was taken at the last stop after about 150kms, before breakfast was served at the school.
Marius, Dani, Andre, Elsabe, LeRoy and Jamie - Thanks for the company!

Re: Bakenkop
Thanks all, was a nice run and breakfast…….well organized too (the breakfast), they even had “Please do not touch” signs prepared for us to put on the bikes.
Group riding……….mmmmh……dangerous bunch this passing left, right and centre. Never took my eyes of the mirrors. Solution…….stay in front.
My morning…….
- all along thought the run was tomorrow. Tomorrow we can’t make it hence not reading with a lot of interest
- 06:10 this morning looked at the forum and realized it’s today and promptly decided to join......only problem, they are leaving at 06:30
- the Mermaid did not think I was funny…..I’m on my own
- quick shower, kitted up and arrived at the school just as the bikes started to depart.
- question to me….which group are you in?…….sorry mate, I don’t even know where we are going. Frantically looking for a tall pillion with a arm in plaster……no chief lady in sight…..not as a pillion anyway.
- several splinter groups formed with no regrouping along the route and I only caught a glimpse of the big LT once…… never saw any fellow club members until the last en-route stop.
- surely my eyes are deceiving me……the freshly operated on chief lady is not a pillion……she is riding her own bike.
Sjoe……I thought I’m over the top sometimes but this…….anyway, well done BMW. Still can not figure out if you are very tough or ……..foolish .
Respect!!!!!

Re: Bakenkop
Yes I also want to thank everyone for a lovely ride. I must say I underestimated the temperature because it was so nice when I left home (in my summer jacket!). By the time we stopped at the end of the beautiful fast stretch past Hartebeeshoek, I was frozen. But I eventually thawed and had a lovely breakfast back at the school. Thanks to the organisers for a lovely well organised event. I agree with Jamie though, they need a few lessons in group riding One had to have eyes in the back of your helmet and big mirrors to watch your back Unfortunately, unlike Jamie (with his Fireblade rocket), I could not stay in front but I gave it my best shot with the RT.

Re: Bakenkop
Thoroughly enoyed the ride. Always good always good to sometimes ride with other non-Beemer groups - one sees other perspectives and riding issues - reference to Jamie's posting.
At times the speed was somewhat slow - at times not so slow. In overview it was a very nice ride, even after only going to sleep at 01:30 on Saturday morning. Left home when Jamie decided to join the ride. Made good time from Brooklyn to Wierdapark and got there by 06:25.

Re: Bakenkop
No - was just nice to open it up a bit on quiet roads. Luckily the speedies were still either asleep or doing whatever they do if not on the road.
