So se ek ook mosMadnohB wrote:“mag die goeie Vader gee” that I will never get too old for a (fast) superbike.
If the people around perceive me to be too old for a superbike………..well with the greatest respect in the world……..then it’s their problem

Re: Possible my worst day ??
To sort of get back on topic here. I was wondering, in a drag race between a 1200GS and an 800GS who would win?
On paper I believe the power to weight ratios are similar. However to my mind because the 800 is lighter and that motor has been quite highly tuned, it should be faster?
Has anyone raced the two? I would be interested to hear. I might just post this topic on the WD site as well. I am sure someone there would have tried it out.

Re: Possible my worst day ??
I think MadnohB will come up to answer your question.
I also think the 800 might pip the end post, not by far.
We'll sit and wait for the answer.

Re: Possible my worst day ??
No preassure here please
In a drag race from a standing start the R1200GS should cream the F800GS with acceleration figures 0 to 100 in 3.3sec compared to the 4.1sec of the 800. - that is now the newest R1200GS, the previous version was 3.5sec if I remember correctly...........anything 3.5 and lower is pretty good in any company though
On top end I think it might be pretty even but I suspect the 1200 will still have the edge by a few km’s

Re: Possible my worst day ??
On paper I agree with MadnohB, however in my experience it depends a lot on the rider The tests are normally done under ideal & controlled conditions with an experienced rider and they take a few runs to determine the final published number. In a street dice it might be a completely different result. But....0.8 seconds is a long time in bike terms, so the 1200GS will probably do it Would however be interesting to get the quarter mile info though, because 0 - 100 is typically done in the 1st 2 gears but in the quarter mile you go all the way, and that is where the weight advantage might come into playmorpheus wrote:To sort of get back on topic here. Re: Possible my worst day ??
That is quite true - ultimately the rider will make the difference although the stats paints a different picture - will be interesting to see it though.

It is really interesting that sometimes when you get on your bike you just KNOW that today is not the day to clean the exhaust or see how quick you can get to work!Henk wrote:Today was the worst ride ever. My best ride!
There was no 1200GS next to me, nor a stopwatch, but today my 800GS smiled all the way! and that sound!

I'll stick to the default/standard pipe - a sound that gives me goose bumps anyway!

careful with the word never there.......
I know of "strong" people.......I'm talking pillars of society here that has succumbed to the temptation
a certain Mermaid said "never......not interested" and..........as they say, the rest is history
and I can honestly say, I had no influence whatsoever
what I can give away though........once you taste the forbidden fruit (experience it).............????........o jong dan is die koeël deur die kerk........soos 'n groot maagseer, jy wil nog keer maar jy kan nie

Re: Possible my worst day ??
Ek stem Jamie, na die week wil ek my canisters ook verander! Die aftermarket klink soveel beter, en op my fiets sal ek 10kg ligter wees met die aftermarket pyp. Dit beteken ek hoef nie so streng te dieet nie!
