R1200RT Stunning bike
My RT has done 25000km in the past 18 months. Until how many km do you think should I keep it, and if I trade in must I go for a new RT or an Adventure. My wige has a 800 ST.

Re: R1200RT Stunning bike
Welcome to the forum Jameselize.
As to your question - whatever suit you best.
The popular answer would be to switch to a GS……bet then……..we will just have yet another GS here………
Serious, a question only you can answer as to which bike to look at next. Can give you a personal opinion but for starters it might not be applicable to you and secondly, it might not be wise for my future on the forum……….
One thing is for sure……..you can never go wrong with a GS, however, that does not mean there might not be another model more to your liking
ps. the K1200S and the F800ST make a fabulous combo

Re: R1200RT Stunning bike
Personally, I would go for a combination. The RT is magic for the Long Haul (I have one too), the K1200S (and next year also the S1000RR) is magic if you want some addictive week-end fun, and the GS is still the best all rounder but especially if you like the dirt. All a matter of taste. I tried them all, and if I could afford it I will probably have one of each.

Re: R1200RT Stunning bike
When to trade in your current bike is an open question. I traded my 1999 model LT at 95 000 km's, for a 2007 model LT, and would probably not have traded the bike at all, as the bike would probably have run for another 200 000kms without a hitch.
But you know boys and their toys. I walked into Bavaria at the wrong time with the wrong person with me and got swept up in the moment, when he started buying a GT. And before i knew it, placed the order for the LT and negotiated the trade in on the old LT.
The choise of a the replacement for the RT you have now gotten used to should not be difficult - you are by now used to the RT - then rather stick with the model you know. Personal opinion.
