Insurance for bikes - Page 2 Empty Re: Insurance for bikes

Bike insurance is one of those things one must shop around for. It varies in price quite a lot. Have a look in Bike SA magazine for various options and get a quote from all of them. Some give special discount for us "older" riders and others for professional people such as lawyers. Also be aware of the special exclusions. If you are not the only rider, be carefull, the small print might just get you. Typically, riders under 25 years of age are regarded as high risk with a hefty price premium and access. Shocked

have been quoted R486 to insure the RT for R150000 is that reasonable ?

Cheapest i have found so far...

I pay R680 for a 2008 GS adv. of the same value. (not really comparable) That was the best offer after i shopped at 5 different options. Must add that when you include the bike with the complete household it brings it down a bit.

Does anybody know whether you can insure your bike for the value of a new one or do you have to insure it for the market value?

As far as I know "New for used" insurance is possible, but more pricey and you will find that it INCREASES as the bike devalues, due to the increased cost margin of the replacement. Mad
