Mozambique 14-18 June 2010 Empty Mozambique 14-18 June 2010

Post by steyngert 4th June 2010, 11:38

A good friend of mine arrived from Cote d'Ivoire a week ago after a 3 month work stint. He did not need to beg me too hard to accompany him on a trip to Mozambique in the week of 14-18 June 2010. 1 phone call later, and Eddie is also joining us...
I am trying to put together a trip plan that will give us quite a bit of offroad. Thus far, we seem to feel that sleeping the first night in Ponta Malongane (from Pretoria) is a good start. Thereafter we intend driving North as far as we can, but trying to avoid having to drive too much of the same road back. (I did the road from Malongane to Maputo with a pillion in 2003, so I am not too worried about that). We intend re-entering South Africa through Komatipoort, maybe sleeping around that area on Thursday 17 June.

I would like to know if there is anybody out there that can recommend routes as well as indicating areas we must definitely avoid. Both of us are OK on sand (or rather, used to be - it is about a year since I last rode heavy sand...) I am sure we will regain our abilities soon enough...I would really appreciate the guidance of the experienced riders out there.

Furthermore, if there is anybody that might be interested in joining us, please let me know.
