S1000RR down
Just got the news that my pal Willie (he rode with us on his 800GS - looks like Chuck Norris, hence aka Chuck - on the Dullstroom GS ride) wrote off his brand new S1000RR yesterday. He got the bike on Thursday, one of the first two that Bavarian received.
He is in Akasia Hospital with broken leg and possible other injuries, they are just waiting for him to stabilise and swelling to subside, but otherwise not in danger.
Ai tog.

Re: S1000RR down
He was on his way to Harties in the morning. At Die Bek se Plek, a women was making a U-turn on the other side of a turn in the road. So he hit her car on the side - apparantly only the S1000RR's back wheel is re-usable.
I haven't spoken to him yet, so don't know how fast he was going.

Re: S1000RR down
Eina - not nice. Pass on wishes to him. Think it was his bike I saw there on Thursday - motorsport colours.
So many bike accidents lately with cars doing u-turns!!
(but the acceleration on that bike is incredible! )

Re: S1000RR down
Went to see him, he's looking great for a guy who could have been in big trouble - broken leg and arm is a small prize to pay. Saw some pics of the bike, looks sad but you can see he was not doing a crazy speed even though the bike is a total write-off - the bike was still running in and he kept it at normal speeds.
Apparantly the women was arrested today - drunken driving.

Re: S1000RR down
An absolute disgrace.
These people need to be held accountable for their actions !
A police woman who should be setting an example to others
What sort of message does this send out ??
And the biker always comes off 2nd best !

Re: S1000RR down
???? - reminds one of when Deon got his S - barely had it and practically the same thing happened - if my memory services me correct - luckily Deon dit not land in Hosp. Hope he recovers fully and that he will not wait to long for the replacement of his pride and joy.

Re: S1000RR down
It must have been the Blue and White one I saw under the stairs last Thursday.
The back wheel and shock looked okay for re-use, but not much else...
I hope the rider recovers soon.
