MEMBERSHIP and FAMILY MEMBERSHIP
How do we understand membership?
I quote from the constitution:
Quote:
4.4.2 Family members
4.4.2.1 Any direct family of a paid-up Club member may participate in any Club event.
4.4.2.2 The family membership shall constitute two voting members, over the age of 18, living together as a couple or in a family relationship.
Unquote
Apart from an individual which is clear the issue is on the "family membership";
Only two members of a family have voting rights but the whole family, parents and children may participate in club matters.
I explain as follows
- Other adults in the family apart from the two with voting rights do not qualify as members ie grannies, uncles, or others
- Chlidren are classified as
- School going children are regarded as part of the family membership and may participate in club activities.
- Children who are registered as students at a tertiary institution are not part of 'family membership' and has to become student members - at 50% of the normal membership rate.
- Children earning a salary are not at all regarded as part of their parents' family membership, even if they are still living with the parents. They need to register as full/individual members
