Re: Club meetings
You can safely just pass this one by - it has nothing to do with your topic and I sure it is just a bit of a misunderstanding.
Unknowingly you uttered the words “GS Cult” which is somewhat of a raw wound at the moment.
The choir that doomed you did not take into account that you in all probability knew nothing about past battle scars. ....they were also naughty in using the "forbidden" "boring" word
However, the “war” is long over now and we are all well on the way of full recovery…….all is good.
Please do continue to post and don’t forget the next club social .....we are realy not a bad bunch

Unarmed or unharmed?
Bobby, from the Committee a hearty word of welcome in our midst.
The remarks on your "GS cult" was very much tongue in cheek...
...but since you are new to our circle of friends (that is really what we are) there are certain cultures, like in any assembly of people.
Firstly, there is no divide amongst us regarding GS and road (we call it S). Although the majority of BMW bikes sold and ridden are GS, only a small percentage do dare off-road. Hence the reaction to your "GS cult". We kuier together and where possible arrange out-rides where the two groups meet up to complete the kuier, which we never do. So the story goes on and on, and we keep enjoying!
Secondly, there was an incident before your time that the word 'boring' attained a very negative stigma - and rightfully so. What is boring in the mind of one is very exciting to the other. We treat each other as equal and respect and never criticise the other on their likes, bikes, or dislikes. We will however very quickly jump on someone if his/her or the group's safety is at risk due to individual behavior. The use of the word 'boring' was in fact uttered in humour and we others saw the meaning
Thirdly, each guy's bike is very special to himself. This is what he likes, what he can afford, and what he drool about. GS, K, RT, S, whatever. We are all one, whatever we ride.
Our main goal is "Shared Riding Pleasure" - a very wide expression but this is what we do - as a group. The remarks above from a few who read the thread is just proof of our unity.
Please don't take anything personal, but also understand where we come from.
In order to meet you and getting to know you better, please visit us at the next social.
I will reveal my real name when we meet.
Now the last thing I want is an apology from you. Please, please don't!!
Keep rolling
Re: Club meetings
Well spoken, tj!
Welcome eticktock, just to reiterate - the 'boring' had absolutely nothing to do with you. Personally I have bowed out of the 'boring'/'GS vs. S' long time ago, don't utter a word on it anymore (ok, except for daring to mention statistics - and 67.3% of all statistics are wrong anyway!). I just ride, that's now when Bavarian allows me to...

Re: Club meetings
I very wise man called Sir Paul McCartney once said “ Let it be “
I am sure we'll still have many but many rival point of views in the future but just imagine how " Boring " things would be if we all shared the same point of view. The biggest problem we face as society is the fact that people simply do not talk to each other anymore. We send text massages and not even do that properly by sending all sorts of encrypted messages in some shortened text style.
People don't greet each other and if you feel the need for that feeling of enormous wellbeing, and actually start up a conversation with a stranger, that person either thinks you would like to borrow money or sell him timeshare.
Anyway Good Things to all !

Re: Club meetings
Fine - 'let it be' so she can kill the next person she turns in front of - and all the other road users can continue disobeying the basic rules - have you tried the Ben Schoeman highway on a bike during peak traffic? See how many people change lanes in front of bikes without indicating or even looking - but 'let it be' so more road users can be killed.
Society lets too many things be - corruption, bad service, incompetent people in many positions - try dealing with government departments for one. Turn a blind eye and it will dissappear - not!!
...but 'let it be' and we can watch the downward spiral of our society...

Re: Club meetings
Hi Dave
I know all about it and I for one have more metal in my body than what AC/DC can produce. They don't call me Captain Crash or nothing. Myself and some folks from " Think Bike " spoke about this N1 and perhaps we should handout some of that tiny " Think Bike " stickers to every single cage driver but keep in mind that every person must receive 3 stickers and that should cover the left, right and rearview mirrors. A Bonus sticker must be awarded to a certain type of driver to be stuck on the forehead thus she can see it when she does her make-up since this is the only time she will ever look in the mirror

...but this type only uses the car mirrors when they putting on their make-up or looking to see how they look when they answer their cellular phone.

Re: Club meetings
Is it just me or is anybody else also finding those farming type scrapings on the N1 a bit of a challenge? There is absolutely no way to approach those “ Rippled” surfaces where they are preparing to tar? It’s like the bike is possessed with a mind of it’s own but then again I haven’t ridden that road in weeks so it might be fixed.
Re: Club meetings
This is where trust in training comes in. Relax the grip, look up and enjoy the wiggle! The more challenging one is where only lane is scraped and you have to swop between the two as you lane split, with very liile forgiving space. Takes a lot of trust in your steed...

Re: Club meetings
Cannot agree more with dakardrix. I do that road every day and the first few days was horrifing, but after I have done what dakardrix is suggested, things went well. Even do it at 100km these days.
