Beestekraal - S's & GS's
The morning started with a phone call from Frik at 05h30: " Is the ride still on... due to the rain?" "Ofkors" we replied.
and then a good number pitched at Zambesi Motorrad, in time and tanks filled to the brim!
1. The paving still wet after a good downpour earlier
To all those members who were affraid of the rain...
... you missed a lot!
3. Alistair and his staff put up a splendid welcome with filter coffee on the tap and an offer of discounted rider stuff. Thanks Zambesi Motorrad, we enjoyed and appreciate your hospitality
2. JR You have competition in the making! Albeit feet barely touching ground.
4. At the intersection at Damdoryn. Beautiful pic, Gemmerkat. As usual you did top revs to get into that position, huh?
5. The Northam dance: Practice...
6. A bit better, this one...
7. Now we're getting there, nearly...
8. A ha. That's it Gemmerkat
9. Frik also jumping on the 'bandwagon'. Age is showing clearly here... Balance? Poise?
10. Wow Sue! Where did you practise that one? On teasing Abe at home, huh?
11. No. She wouldn't do the jump. Wie is jy meisie???
12. Bruno creates an allergic reaction (at will) whenever he touches tar. Shame, poor man. But then it is not so easy on gravel either... Marnus on his left. Siamese twins we have here?
18. He did a perfect salto... with his bike on tow! We were told when the GS's arrived at Beestekraal stasie.
19. Fauna & Flora is watching, sir. We have Green Scorpions in this country too, you know... And they usually lock you up on Fridays, for the whole weekend!!!!
13. An RT can spin...
14. Showing off preference
15a. The assembly without the near table.... Dave enquiring who'se contact lense he's got on the finger . Elaine's father and mother (on the left) joined the breakie on a short visit from Berlin, Germany. Flying back tomorrow. Also Sue's mom just behind Dave. Nice kids you have here, folks!
15. The near table... with my other favourite on the left
16. Beestekraal Stasie at its best, with bikes allover and owner Lynette at the helm. Thanks Lynette, the Breakie was splendid. And at R50 a head, wow!
17. Abe, our Graffiti Master. In skoonskrif. ( You can see he started off as a Draughtsman! )
20. Dis reg, Elaine. Ons gaan mos nie spoeg nie, né?
Dankie aan almal wat gedeel het. Dit was weereens 'n fees om saam julle te ry en te kuier.

Re: Beestekraal - S's & GS's
Yes... it was a great ride and very nice to have a late breakfast together!
Here are some of the "G" pictures...
A very unexpected and significant drop. Fortunately I saw the guy before me disappear and managed to slow down in time. I "forgot" to warn Knopkop and Droogie
Rest stop on the canal roads. Drix, thanks for leading, Knopkop and Droogie, thanks for sweeping.
Some of the guys from Zambezi Motorrad if I'm not mistaken?
Arriving at Beestekraal Station. Good thing the S's left us some breakfast, because I was quite hungry after the gravel twisty channel roads.
After brunch, a couple of us (Drix, Knopkop, Bruno, Droogie and I) decided to check out "Koos se klim". Some meteorite-like rock in the middle of nowhere. We did not go up "Koos se klim", but rater around the back. It was quite difficult and intimidating nonetheless! Fortunately there was lots of traction.
You can see Drix with the orange vest looking down Koos's slope.
You pretty much have a 360 degree panorama vantage point on top of the rock.
What goes up, must come down. What goes down, must come up. What goes up and down... uhm...
Drix...
Droogie...
Knopkop...
Bruno...
Thanks everyone - it was marvelous. I had my doubts early on because of the weather, extensive tar section and two dead ends, but it just went perfect from there! And always nice to share the experience with good friends!

Re: Beestekraal - S's & GS's
Nice Marnus,
Thanks for the pics!
Ok, so it looks like we are doing a combined ride report, cool. here are some of my pics:
My bike standing next to, Bruno’s 1200.
Bruno’s bike ready to rock.
Marnus
Smoke/Pee stop
A crossing at an overflowing plaas dam
All to soon the canal roads were behind us, so we took the railway service road to Beestekraal Stasie for some brekkie and beer.
On this service road, our Brazilian Fighter Pilot, lost it on the 1200, in a muddy rut. He went flying, with the bike pointing in the other direction, he was doing a fairly decent speed and the bike spun around a few times, but no harm done to bike or rider. The soft muddy landing helping to soften the blow on rider and bike.
After a nice breakfast at Beestekraal Stasie we headed to the Rock close to Jericho. Four of us rode to the top (NOT via Koos se klim ). Myself on the X-Challenge, Drix on the 800GS, Deon on a Dakar and Marnus on the 1200GS. The view from the top was just awesome, with everything busy turning green after the first rains of the season. We then headed back on dirt via De Wildt.
Thanks to all who joined in!!
Some pics: Man I love this bike!!!
My baby on the klip:
I tried to do a few panoramas, but I still need some practice...
Thanks for the pics!

Re: Beestekraal - S's & GS's
Drix, thanx for an awesome morning riding. As a first timer I really enjoyed the GS route. Sorry I had to bail out on the "extended" route, but nicely pumped set of tires on that road were not what the doctor ordered. Will you post your GPS track?
How far was it to the Rock? Anyone got GPS coordinates? Now I am sorry I chickened out!
