3 Months of absence
We have had a fair few requests to account for what we have been doing biking wise during the last 3 months. This “roofkykers” and their demands........
well, no serious shakes during this time
the map certainly kept on being populated despite the forum non-activity
.......but let’s see.....
It was the ABBG end of May on which comprehensive reporting was done here
We went to ET close to the end of June
and yes, we do sometimes trailer bikes if need be
Now here is a twist in the story. As many of you know, I have traded the K1200S earlier this year on a K13. As it happened, I know the new owner however he bought the bike without knowing it used to be mine. They were invited with on our trip......somewhat nostalgic to have the “old trusted friend” with us in biking paradise
It turned out to be a wonderful riding weekend
to be able to share it with friends and loved ones always makes for a memorable occasion
of course we found the time
to watch Rossi achieving his 100th GP win
we also stopped for a minute of silence at the spot where a club member had a fatal accident
No long rides in July and lastly the ladies ride in August on which comprehensive reporting was done here as well
not often our bikes get photographed in a cemetery
......and that is about it.......no wait, I almost forgot.....
Got myself “another” F800GS albeit a slightly smaller version (with an Akra )
and the collection is growing

Re: 3 Months of absence
So noted
The Western Cape is firmly in our sights has been for some time........unfortunately, being from the working class, it is a bit difficult for us to get away from the salt mine for longer than 10 days at a time and a Western Cape trip just begs for 3 weeks (or longer) but we are working on it.........
The Northern Cape? – well simple, they don’t have enough twisties there. In fact, not a lot of anything going on there period.
However, interested viewers keep an eye on the forum. We are thinking of doing Alexander Bay during the long weekend in September (24/09) Already have 13 000km on the "new" bike so a few thousand here and there won't make much of a difference . Ek sê, het hom, ry hom

Re: 3 Months of absence
Yes believe that is the weekend - although Alexander Bay will be a nice ride - still have to 2 do that that and Aghulas for our extreme silver. At least it seems as if you enjoyed the time and made the most of it.
Cannot say the same - the same time you were racking up the km's, Elsabe had 31 sessions (every working day) of radiation therapy for Cancer and we did not do anything seeing as she was booked off and we had to place everthing on hold. Detail on her blog.
Seems "Ouhout" has become a popular hangout since last year with the Katse dam trip when we first stopped there.

Jamie, ons het julle nodig die Sept naweek om al die GS'e wat gaan saamry tot orde te roep wanneer hulle begin swak gedra
Re: 3 Months of absence
Dave, I also noticed the blank areas on the map first.
Funny how Lesotho looks like it got hit by a nuclear bomb... and Swaziland.
I need Alexander Bay, Kosi Bay and Pontdrift

Re: 3 Months of absence
......well it looks like an Alexander Bay trip forming - thankfully I do not need to go there again.....unless one day I plan on doing a gold - maybe on the S - now there's a thought.

2. Orange Pins - ?
3. Pink Pins - ?

Re: 3 Months of absence
yip, must say it was fairly easy to shoot the (made in China) models....sommer built a mini studio with infinity curve the works
Although made in China, still the best in the business - very, very accurate account of the real version

Re: 3 Months of absence
very observant Mr (formerly known) Sharkman
the small coloured pins
Indication to us which roads we have done:
- once as hubby and wife each on our own bike
- more than once on our own bikes
- once as a family (4 bikes)
- more than once, as a family (4 bikes)
- with the Mermaid as pillion
etc
bigger blue pins
just that - the 4 corners
larger black pins
- the permanent one is home base
- the other two were tempory trip specific ones. Our overnight spots for the Ladies Ride.......just incase home support had to do a rescue of sorts as a result of some unforeseen incident
