Hello BMW friends,

I am from Montreal, Canada and I will be in South Africa (Johannesburg) for work from May 31st to June 26th 2009. I am a motorcyclist and own an R1150RT, and every time I can, I try to ride to new roads. Last summer I crossed Spain and Portugal, this summer I will be crossing Italy and Greece.

Since I am going to be in South Africa I am trying to find a good ride with others for the long S.A. weekend of June 13th to June 16th. I see from your website that you have a winter Chill out ride from June 13th to June 16th but I could not find any details. As you understand not being from S.A. I am interested in scenery and tourist stuff (up to a certain degree).

I am a hobby photographer (photo and video) and I aim to bring back some very good memories.

Anyway couple of questions:

Do you have a recommended place to rent a bike (the brand is not that important)?

What will be your Winter Chill out ride?

Would I be able to join you guys (I am not a member of your club)?

Or maybe you have recommendations for a better/different destination for my ride (Cape Town, etc…)

Thanks in advance for replying

Eric

If they cant help you, im sure they will be of help.. other forum members might also be of help.. but its late night here - seems they're all asleep! Rolling Eyes

Dear BMW friends, I have arrived in S.A. in Johannesburg.

If you have a ride scheduled this Sunday or Saturday I would join your group as long as I can find a place to rent a bike for the day. Thanks in advance.

Welcome in sunny SA Eric!
I spoke to our local dealership.
They also suggest SAMA Tours ie Darryl Berman - phone 0825516132

Unfortunately the Club doesn't have a formal Club ride this weekend, only a Training Day at Zwartkops Raceway on Sunday (fully booked)
There is however a possibility for an informal run to Deneysville (on the banks of the Vaal River).
Check this link for discussion..

You're welcome to visit us at our Club night on Friday as well!?

Eric
Darryl has a bike for you to rent for the weekend (R1000 - R1200 per day, depends on the bike) and also a Zumo 500 GPS (R150 per day)
Let me know if I can help in any other way.

There is also Motorrad Rentals in Boksburg:
