Shaken but not hurt
A cage cutting the corner at an intersection took out our daughter yesterday while she was stationary at the said intersection on her 125 scooter. When she went down the car drove over her hands.
She has a few bruises and scratches and is a bit sore and stiff this morning but luckily it does not seem too serious. The helmet took a good blow from the tar and the side of the vehicle. She was wearing gloves and a protective jacket.
Although she had a big scare, we are thankful she was not seriously injured.

Re: Shaken but not hurt
Sorry to hear that and very glad that she is ok. As I said in one of the other posts the standard of driving by cage drivers is getting worse and worse.

Re: Shaken but not hurt
yes, he even followed her home to make sure she gets there safely.
Hope it's not all talk, but he admitted making a mistake and offered to pay all her damages
think he got a bigger "skrik" than she

Hope she gets over the shock soon! One thing to ride and fall, but just standing still?

Sorry to read about your daughter's misfortune - never nice to hear.
By the sounds of it, nothing major - hope she doesn't loose her confidence.

Re: Shaken but not hurt
thanks everyone.
you are right and thank you, thank you for that but boy was I shaken.........and even more so - like Drix said - because she was stationary......nowhere to go. We have spent so much time on the value of escape routes and now this.......
and also in the back of the mind the locomotive and carriages story...........
jissie julle, dissie baby!

Re: Shaken but not hurt
The main thing is she is OK, with no major damage.
She is very very lucky, as was I. Things could have been much much worse.
She will be back on the scooter in no time and her confidence will build again, so we grow stronger.
Good luck...

Re: Shaken but not hurt
Thanks everybody for all the good wishes. I had to take her to the doctor this afternoon as she was complaining about pain around her ribs. Fortunately the damage is only to the soft tissue and not the ribs. What really shocked me is our doctor saying that she was the third patient since yesterday that was hit on a scooter...... what's happening

Re: Shaken but not hurt
Sorry to hear of the awful incident. Glad she only ended up with minor injuries.
Hope the guy follows through on his promise to pay for all the damages.
I see this on a daily basis where vehicles cut the corner on the orange light so they don't have to wait for the next green.

Man I hate the cage drivers with a passion. Glad to hear she is fine but it is not lekker. Come on girl you are tough like Dad and Mom, met you once before at a bike shop, know you can ride again, but take it easy for now.
