Stokkies draai - or not
The Stokkiesdraai venue is north of Nylstroom, or as it is now known - Modimolle - the same direction that we went out on for the Rooiberg ride. Question - can we not rather change this with another venue at a later date during the year in another direction from Pretoria.

Re: Stokkies draai - or not
Not the same Stokkiesdraai - Johan's trip is to the one in Orkney.
See the other thread on this - explains which one there.

Excellent - would then be in the other direction. One tends to get a bit bored with the same routes continously.

You dont realy plan to go to the venue on the otherside of Nylstroom it has deteriorated badly and have been taken over by the NSA.LeRoy Olivier wrote:The Stokkiesdraai venue is north of Nylstroom, or as it is now known - Modimolle - the same direction that we went out on for the Rooiberg ride. Re: Stokkies draai - or not
The bad news and the good news:
BAD: With the recent flooding of the Vaal our pontoon were swept ashore and badly damaged to such that it will not be repaired in time for the event on 8 March.
GOOD: Francois from Stokkiesdraai arranged for us an alternative about 1km downstream. We took another recce last Sunday and inspected the pontoon - Larger and more comfortable than the former!
The ride will be about 250km there and 280km return. (You wil miss mother-in law's leg o' lamb that day) Only 40 people will be allowed on the first ride of 1.5h and if there are more then we will ask the second group to relax a 1.5h longer and have a ride on their own after the first group returned. The pub on shore (and on the pontoon) is well stocked and can keep many in good spirits.
Small tanks will refill in Parys and all in Oberholzer.
At the departure (Atterbury Shell) I will hand out numbers to indicate who is on which ride. So, first come first served! Sorry, no numbers will be sold in advance.
Bird lovers may bring their binocs along. No No guys, I am refering to birds, not gals! But then, just bring yourselves. A good idea is to bring some shorts/bikinis for the boat ride, much better than rider gear.
Breakfast will be served on the pontoon at R100 per mouth.
See you all Sunday 07h00 for 07h30 at Atterbury Shell.
