Re: Looking for a F650GS
Hi there!!
I am planning on selling mine!!!
Just a few notes on my bike.
2006 F650GS - Silver
ABS and Heated Grips
68500km - I will get the 70k service done before I sell.
Full Service History by Bavarian
I am putting on new sprockets and chain before I sell
Extras: Included with the sale of the bike:
Brackets for Soft Luggage
Additional heat shields for both exhausts
Set of Kappa Soft Luggage (Side-panniers and Rear-bag)
BMW Tank-bag
3 x knobbly rear tyres (Conti TKC80 / Mich T63 / MaxxisM6006)
1 x knobbly front tyre (Metzler Karoo)
Bike history:
I bought it new from BMW Lifestyle in Midrand in Aug 2006. I was the only owner of the bike.
The bike has mostly been used for commuting, hence the km’s. Off-road riding, it has done Sani Pass, Mozambique (mostly tar, and a bit of sand), the 2008 GS Challenge (did not fall), and a trip to the Drakensberg escarpment (Tar/Dirt roads – not heavy off-road). I have also done a number of Club rides and day rides in and around Pretoria on a mix of tar and dirt (no heavy off-roading)
Spills I had:
The bike never had a crash.
I had two spills in mud, at very slow speed – no damage
I had four spills in sand, also at slow speed, small scratch on tank from my boot.
Dropped it once on a slippery and wet dirt road – no damage
I will upload some pics later tonight, but here are some pics so long:
http://bmwclubs.heavenforum.org/south-f51/sharkie-s-drakensberg-escarpment-gs-trip-t102.htm
Many club and forum members have seen my bike, so feel free to ask some questions.
I will wash it, don’t worry.......
My reason for selling is that I rode the F800GS on a club ride to Rooiberg, and I loved the 800. I now just need to test drive a 1200GS, then I will make up my mind, either 1200 or 800, time will tell.
Asking price: R 55,000 highly neg
Let me know,
Etienne

I can vouch for Sharkie's bike. Only ridden by old lady, never been off-road

Re: Looking for a F650GS
Thanks everyone for the quick response and support. Kilometers bit too high for me, I should have mentioned it in the first place.
Keep it going! I'm not in a hurry. The right one will come my way.

hmmm - I think I sense a new 1200GS owner in the Club in the near future...

I think you might be right.
The more I think about it the more it makes sense to buy a good 2nd hand 1200GS with panniers, than a new 800GS with all the added protection. Assuming looking at about R110k.
But like I said, time will tell.
