Bear - fatal accident Empty Bear - fatal accident

Post by Admin 14th October 2008, 19:16

Sad news folks:
Our forum friend, Les Stout (Bear), died in an accident last week on the Mabopane Highway.
He was on his new 1200RT.

Les se jongste seun Ryan, vra dat so veel as moontlik motorfietsryers asseblief more - Woensdag - na die lykskouing 'n stoet vorm na die kerk waar die roudiens sal plaasvind.
Apologies for the late notice.

The viewing is at Doves Centurion, Cnr South Str & Jean Ave from 10h00 - 11h30.
and the memorial service will take place at Westview Methodist Church, Wierdapark.
c/o Tortelduif & Willem Botha.

Let's be there (South Str & Jean Ave) at 11h30 and show our last respect to Les.

May he rest in peace.

This is sad news. Not nice hearing it as I do ride that road to Soshanguve for work at times. Those taxis are insane along that route. Even in a cage vehicle you have to watch yourself big time.

Is this the same Bear of the forums?

Edit: Arg stupid me. Missed the forum being mentioned. Fatal got stuck in my head.

I'll be there.
Although I didn't know him personally, it feels like I knew him for a long time.
It shows that sharing unites.

Condolences to his ex wife, Wendy, and their children Mark, Chantelle and Ryan.

Apparently he overtook a truck on an off ramp (or slipway) and the truck swerve to the right, pushing him into the chevrons. He died on the scene. Unfortunately I have no more details.

Seems like i will also be able to make it to the viewing and the ride to the Church - will not be able to stay for the memorial service. This is indeed a sad day to read of another one of our own that has passed away because of other road users not taking us into consideration. Our thoughts and condolences to his family and children.

I have read his articles on this forum, shared his excitement about his new bike, looked at the pictures that he posted. I never met him but felt I knew him. This is bad news indeed and my heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends. He is at peace now roaming the highways of heaven. May his dear soul rest in peace with the Lord.

Post by GSlady 15th October 2008, 17:17

A funeral is at its best a sad occasion.
Five members of our Club went today to fulfil a wish of Les’ children, especially the wish of his youngest son, Ryan: After we helped the undertakers to put the coffin in the hearse, we got on our bikes and demurely led our deceased biker friend from Doves Centurion to the church in Wierda Park.

With a last salute from our bikes, we bid Les farewell...

Bear - fatal accident Empty THANK YOU TO YOU ALL

Post by Sharon Haarhoff 20th October 2008, 11:37

Hello All:

My name is Sharon Haarhoff and I am Les Stout (Bear) Fiancee'.

I would like to say thank you to all of you, for you prayers, kind words and wishes received

I am still struggling to come to terms with the fact that this big beautiful man - (my Bear) has gone - but I am so very glad that he achieved his dream of owning and riding his RT - even if it was for such a short period of time.

After much nagging - Bear convinced me to go on his RT with him - so on 27th September - like a proud parent - he kitted me out in helmet, gloves, leather jacket, boots and all - an off we went for a "breakfast run" to the Riviera - I must confess. that even though I was terrified - I enjoyed the ride with him and can see why people get addicted to the freedom of a bike.

Bear sudden death leaves a huge hole in many peoples lives - and I cherish our last 2 1/2 years together -

Thank you to all of you who managed to make the funeral - I know that he would have been very chuffed to have you there.

Many thanks again to you all -

Ride safe - always

Warmest regards

Sharon
