F650CS STOLEN
On behalf of Ray Whittle:
"I want to report that my F650CS (Golden metallic orange, Mod. 2002) was stolen from my “secure” driveway recently. (28th or 29th Sept).
In the interests of all BMW motorcyclists, let's try to find the criminals involved.

ENGINE NO. 00986883
I AM THE LEGAL OWNER OF THE SAID VEHICLE AND AM EAGER TO HAVE IT RETRIEVED.
Please spread the word around.

Re: F650CS STOLEN
what is the preferred way amongst crims to steal bikes. hot wiring, or picking it up onto a bakkie? in that case a disc lock wont really protect the bike, would it? i know quad bikes are a favorite, because you don't need paperwork to sell it. you can sell it like a pair of shoes.

Re: F650CS STOLEN
You dont leave a bike parked outside at night. My R1100S was stolen in 2004, from a very secure parking at home, not in the Garage though. Poisoned my dogs and broke the gate open. Got the dogs to Onderstepoort on time, but i could hear my bike al the way onto the Pietersburg Highway and beyond (04:00). Advice is to at all times park your pride and joy in the garage (Locked that is)

Re: F650CS STOLEN
I've seen some ingenious ways of securing the favourite bike against theft.
Chaining each wheel to a concrete block or a hoop set into concrete slab.
Chaining both wheels to a 6m long 50mm galvanised water pipe...
(just try moving THAT about!)
Nothing prevents the determined thief, I'm afraid...
