Database of Services/Occupations
Szalek writes:
"Good day All bikers and friends
Here is an idea that came to mind while looking for a job recently:
As we are all able to communicate via the forum, I just thought we can use the forum for setting up a database of occupations and services in such a way that members and the Club will benefit.
For example: If person "A" is working at a Tyre fitment centre, he can register himself on the forum so that we all know about it and will support his tyre centre.
In return, person "A" will donate money or a prize to the Club. The Club can use the money or prize for a Breakfast Run or weekend away.
Maybe it's a way of bringing our Club and Forum friends closer?"
Shall we do it?

Re: Database of Services/Occupations
I think it is an excellent idea! However, some members might feel that they would not like to mix their job and hobby - for instance if someone is an orthopaedic surgeon, he will be bugged every time someone had a little crash...

Personally - i think this is an excellent idee. Given Gerts comments - the orthopaedic can make bags of money or not.

Re: Database of Services/Occupations
On another forum, ok, the Wild Dog Forum, they have a section dedicated to "Non-biking Business Opportunities".
Under this section they have "Business Contacts" for all different kinds of industries and services.

Re: Database of Services/Occupations
So. It's a good idea. Shall we start a database in table format?
Any other ideas?

Re: Database of Services/Occupations
I would not have the e-mail address showing in the event that it gets picked up for spam. If someone want to contact a person on the list they could then send a PM to that person

It's everyone's own decision what info to make public.
It is true - be careful with email addresses - robots may spam you.

Sharkie
Everything is possible - this is unfortunately not a very user friendly table.
I'll get it started and then you can decide if you want to use it.
(The forum does not allow attachments other than pictures, otherwise I would've used a spreadsheet.)

Re: Database of Services/Occupations
I suggest using the use the word 'dot' (e.g. co dot za) in the table so that spam scanners do not steal the data to their benefit.
It is easy to substitute "dot" with . and then the address will work.
