LADIES WITH LONGEST TIME OF BIKE DRIVER'S LICENSES
Calling all the ladies.....
I am very curious to find out for how long the ladies have had their driving (biking, of course...) licenses.
Do you remember the 50cc licenses we got in the old days ??
I got my 50cc license in 1980. (When I started with a Yamaha 50cc)
And thereafter, my "big bike" license in 1985. This was with a Yamaha 250XT.
Please respond.

Re: LADIES WITH LONGEST TIME OF BIKE DRIVER'S LICENSES
This will be very interresting to see what the feedback is here as the 50cc was mostly the youngsters domain and not very many young girls were then allowed to bike.

Re: LADIES WITH LONGEST TIME OF BIKE DRIVER'S LICENSES
Sure I'll respond, but you win this one!
I've been on a friend's 50cc once on the lawns of LC de Villiers' sport grounds many moons ago.. Tukkies' 'Lentedag' I think? But until March 2005 I never really knew how to change a bike's gears!
Only got my learners later in 2005 (when I waited for my 650GS to be delivered) and my real license 18months later on the day that my learner’s was to expire!
Quite a newbie - But never too old to learn!

Re: LADIES WITH LONGEST TIME OF BIKE DRIVER'S LICENSES
Rooikat, based on your age (as per the forum), you were 59 years old when you got your 50cc license. Why did you wait so long to start biking

Re: LADIES WITH LONGEST TIME OF BIKE DRIVER'S LICENSES
I got my bike licence in 1979 - on a 400 honda hawk- my father- never a biker bought it for me to commute to Wits on from florida!! Nearly caused a divorce that one!! ! Now i am feeling OLD! Rode for 3 years then had to trade bike in on car as started teaching and in those days Bikes where not kosher for teachers especially lady ones!! Stopped bikes until last year Feb when i bought myself a ER6F for commuting and in the period until now have passed the kawa onto my youngest son after doing 27000km on it- got a R1150R -in Nov last year, did 25000km on that until it got stolen in April and now have had the R1200ST since 20th May and have done 10700km's until today! Guess you could say I'm hooked - and gratefull I never had to redo the bike licence again!

Yes, at least the licenses did not lapse if you did not use it. Made double sure when changing over to the card license that the bikes licences were transferred onto the card license. Regards.

Re: LADIES WITH LONGEST TIME OF BIKE DRIVER'S LICENSES
Thank you all for responding. Enduro, I am soooooooo thrilled to see another long time ladies biker.
I was also without a bike for a couple of years, but once a biker, forever a biker. True ???
And I also made sure that the bike license was put on the card system. Definitely extremely glad that I don't have to do the license thing all over again. (I already wasted my time on the 50cc license.)
I even suggested to my neighbour's son, to hold on a little bit longer, and rather get the 'big bike' license. It is difficult enough these days to obtain any license.

Re: LADIES WITH LONGEST TIME OF BIKE DRIVER'S LICENSES
From a license perspective - are there only 2 "old ladies" - no reference to their respective age here, in the club.

Re: LADIES WITH LONGEST TIME OF BIKE DRIVER'S LICENSES
I got my license in January 2008. I realise you are looking for the longest period but I think there might be someone with a newer license than me.

Yeah ... once a biker always a biker ...
I got my 50cc licence in 1982 (rode a Yamaha RZ50) - not many girls rode motorbikes back then
and my "big-bike" license last year - Oct 2008

Re: LADIES WITH LONGEST TIME OF BIKE DRIVER'S LICENSES
reminds me of the Honda SS 50cc i had - my goodness but those bikes were primitive - how did we survice what we did on them. Were commonly known as "volume controls" did not go faster - just louder or softer.
