FIFA - dumb idiots?

So, they make it as difficult as possible to buy tickets - ID number required etc. How do you give ID numbers if you are buying a number of tickets that you do not know who you will be giving them to??? That's why I eventually did not buy!

Then when they can't sell them.....

ANC welcomes ticket price cut
Johannesburg - The ANC has welcomed FIFA's decision to cut prices for South African fans, a spokesperson said on Saturday.

Brian Sokutu called the decision to cut 30% of the tickets in Category 2 and 3 "a step in the right direction".

"With the huge challenge of high levels of poverty and unemployment still facing South Africa we believe the ticket price reduction will go a long way in ensuring affordability," he said.

"While we are fully behind the success of South Africa hosting of the FIFA World Cup, the first in an African soil, we have been concerned about whether many local fans will afford to pay for the tickets."

FIFA announced this week tickets would be re-categorised and the number of seats in Category 4, the cheapest tickets available, would be increased.

Tickets for Category 2 and 3, which cost up to R840 will now be sold to South Africans for only R140.

"Having just emerged from the global economic recession, which has adversely affected several industries and thousands of workers, the fact that one in four adults seeking work is unemployed and almost half our young people have not found work, paints a negative picture," said Sokutu.


So, what about the poor fools who paid the full price???

Saw this coming when I saw that they could not sell the tickets.

Friends in the UK said they were not coming because of the ripoff prices for accommodation and airfares locally - as well as the crime. Wonder how many other foreigners as also staying away for this reason.

FIFA and SA soccer are a bunch of dumb idiots??

This is a very touchy topic. Am of the opinion that the local market have geared themselves to make a killing in lieu of highly increased prices. People planning to make their homes available and the like - one wonders how many of these hopefulls have massive damage to their house and home afterwards.
Am of the opinion that the massive price increases will keep the European fans away, resulting therein that the envisaged income will not be generated. My question to all is - what will happen afterwards.

True and a lot of people will have lost a lot of money. Spoke to a short term insurance broker late last year - who was inundated by insurance claims from the BB's & Guest Houses and the like in Bloem after the FiFa dalegates had left - cramming in 15 idiots into one room - breaking out the furniture and plumming fittings to make more space, and the list goes on. And these were the delegastes - not even the soccer hooligans?????

I understand the method of linking ID's to a specific seat is all towards better security.

Yes, that may be - but I wanted four tickets - one for me and one for Dorothy and two other to give to someone who I have not decided yet.

So how do I buy the tickets?? What if someone cannot make the game - how does he give his ticket to someone else?

They have made the ticketing too complicted - that's why I have not bought as well as others that I know of. And then they wonder why they not selling enough tickets and have to reduce prices!!

As I said before - dumb!! They just cannot figure it out!!
