"Straight-sixes became a BMW hallmark in the company’s cars, as flat-twins did in its motorcycles. But, enticing as the idea of matching a turbine-smooth Six with a bike seemed, with a few exceptions (Honda’s CBX, for instance) it never gained much currency. The Six simply took up too much space and weighed too much. BMW is hoping to change that view with its Concept 6. In the foreseeable future, it’s intended to flesh out the K-Series, with the first likely model being what BMW calls an innovative and luxurious touring machine. The 1,6-litre power unit is about 100 mm narrower than all previous straight-six production engines and only a bit wider than a large-capacity straight-four with conventional technology. It’s slightly over-square, with relatively long stroke and small gaps between cylinders."

Re: BMW Concept 6
Cant wait to see the planned tourer - having this powerhouse in a touring bike will definitely upset the general concept with regards to touring bikes.
