Which GS to buy? Empty Which GS to buy?

Post by Marnus 4th February 2010, 07:20

No!, I'm still happy with my bike, thank you.

But my brother in law is nearly returning from Australia and he indicated that he wants to buy a bike when he gets back.

His requirements are:
1) He's relatively short, so his feet should be able to touch the ground
2) He wants to go on longer trips too, so the bike must go the distance
3) Bike must be pillion-friendly
4) He wants to spend about R50k

Can I have your suggestions please? (+mods you think would be needed!)

I think the crunch here is the amount he wants to spend.

Probably a second hand 650GS or Dakar.

I have been looking at the 1150 adventure and a clean one with boxes goes for around 75K , there is a lot of comparisons going on on the WD forum, they recon if you take the 1150 GS standard you will get a capable bike that is good value for money.

Marnus, I see there is a posting for a 650GS on the forum now. What a coincidence! Razz

Does anyone know of someone that is planning to sell their 1200GSA when the new one is released? A collegue of mine is looking for one.

this one?
Which GS to buy? Varkie

Yes: The old 650GS is low (too low for me), comfortable for long distances, excellent for a pillion and in the 50k range.
