Throttle Control
I was so lucky to get a throttle control for Christmas and it was installed by Bavarian East when I had the 40 000 km service done. They explained to me how to use it, but after a week of practising I still struggle to get use to it. I will unlock it and get the speed up to 120 or so and then lock it. The problem then start that even on a flat straight, the bike keep on picking up speed. Then I turn the throttle down a bit and then the bike loses speed again.
Is there some magic that I need to know about using the control? Do someone have this on one of their bikes, or is there someone that can give some advice on this please?

Re: Throttle Control
This will happen with hills especially - remember it is not a cruise control that regulates the speed - it only regulates the revs.
So when going uphill more revs are required and you need to open the throttle slightly and the reverse when going downhill.

Re: Throttle Control
A-Ha, now we are getting some wisdom on 'throttle control'
During our ordeal on the ThinkBike forum I requested the very well informed Sleepy to explain tthe difference between throttle lock and throttle control. But then true to her name she may not have awaken yet... or simply does not know!
Iceman, wifey has the gadget on het ST too and I would rather refer to it as a throttle lock. The main purpose being to lock the throttle in the present position for a short while to wiggle the fingers so as not to get the 'my-hand-slaap' syndrom, or to scratch a RH knee perhaps or resetting the RH mirror.
As Dave said above, it cannot really be used as a speedocruise. It is in fact dangerous to use it this way as during an emergency it does not deactivate when applying brakes or clutch.

TJ
Thanks for the advice. It is exactly what I want to use it for. I had the wrong idea of this gadget and thought it can be use like a speed cruise. Wrong of me but with the advice that I got so far from the forum, I now know, more or less, how to use it.
You see in 2007 I had a big accident and my RH and wrist was broken in the accident. Now what happens is that even driving from JHB to PTA my hand goes sleepy. Now in the December holidays I am going down to George and that area, and want to do some trips arround that areas. Thought this will help me a lot, and by the sounds of it from the forum it is going to.
Thanks anyway for the advice.
