Jannie Verwayen is better!
Although laughing is painful with broken ribs, broken collarbone and blade (bladbeen?), I can report that Jannie was at least smiling from his hospital bed!
He was moved from ICU to High care yesterday and he told me that if all goes well with his lungs the next 24hours, he will be moved from high care to a normal room.
Jannie and his wife Adri, thank every member for the Get-better-soon-Flowers they received on behalf of the Club.
Jannie had a nasty fall with his 1200GS last Friday.

Re: Jannie Verwayen is better!
I was not there when it happened as I was man down on the grass already. From what I heard, though I may be mistaken on the facts. He shifted his weight to the inside instead of outside when he approached a raised section of ground where one had to make a quick turn away. He went one way and the bike the other way. He ended up rolling on the ground for a short distance. Bike took damage to the back part of the seat.

This is getting to be a habit, HGL...!
Glad to hear that the man is getting better, even if he will be called "Jannie kannie" for a while...

Re: Jannie Verwayen is better!
I visited Jannie tonight, and must say that he is really doing well and on the road to recovery. Must admit that he looks much better than when I saw him last on Friday night when we booked him in to Ermelo Medi Clinic! I have never seen a guy in so much pain and fighting for his life.... Jannie is fighter and I can report that he is doing fine, he also asked to thank each and every person for the well wishes especially to Jan du Toit and Kobus from Woema!
PS - Alun, just for the record..... We believe that Jannie had a "blackout" as he is Diabetic, but this you wouldn’t have know as you missed the training and wasn’t there.

Pauli, good to hear Jannie is doing well. Having a "blackout" is definitely not good.

Re: Jannie Verwayen is better!
Thank you for the update. It is really upsetting to hear that one of us got hurt. But huge relief to hear that it is going better. Once again a reminder how fragile we are.
Get well soon Jannie!!!

Always sad to learn about the misfortune of a fellow biker and even more so a club member.
We wish Jannie a speedy and full recovery
ps. thank you to the committee for the "get-better-soon-flowers" initiative

Re: Jannie Verwayen is better!
Even though this happened in controlled circumstances it is not good. Lesson to be learnt here for all - accidents do happen, on the road or wherever.
Regardless - Jannie - hope you get out of High Care soon as possible as one cannot rest there - to much noise, and out of the Hosp altogether as soon as possible.
With regards to HGL - "blackout" on a bike that is not acceptable - reading this in conjunction with the habitual spills - maybe it is time for HGL to hang up his helmit and riding boots?????

All the best Jannie, hope you get well soon!!
Help me out here, maybe I'm missing something. Did Jannie have a 'blackout' ?.............or HGL as LeRoy suggests?????

Re: Jannie Verwayen is better!
Alright let’s see if I understand correctly………
HGL rides a black bike but this bike was "out" b(l)ack at home and although he also likes to wear black, Jannie was the one who had the blackout…….HGL was just out because of black clothes……yes?

Yes - from what I understand, HGL was there without his black bike - was on his 250 (200?) - but was not on that ride at the end of the day as he had
b(l)acked out because of heat exhaustion.
Quite simple really - don't know where the confusion is coming in?
